MLB MLB 3 Up 3 Down (2021) NY Yankees

MLB 3 Up & 3 Down (Week 11)

As the MLB season has completed week 11, we will examine some teams going in the right direction. And some other teams that didn’t fare so well this second week. So for this piece, we will look at three MLB teams going “Up” and three teams going “down.” So three up and three down will be coming out each Monday of the regular MLB season.

1 Up: Los Angeles Angels

One of the hottest teams in all of MLB right now is that of the Los Angeles Angels. Riding the hot wave brought on by an incredible start to the season by Shohei Ohtani, the Angels are moving up the rankings. Although currently in third place in the AL West division, the Angels are riding a six-game winning streak. This six-game winning stretch has put the Angels over .500 for the season with a 33-32 record (at the time of this writing).

1 Down: New York Yankees

Well, this entry deserves its own article discussing the woes of the New York Yankees. (And that will be coming soon, so stay tuned.) But that being said, to say the New York Yankees are struggling is a massive understatement. To say that the Yankees are not playing like the team everyone expected to be would be something stated by Captain Obvious. There’s no easy answer for why the Yankees have played worst than a first-year tee-ball team that doesn’t know the rules, let alone an MLB franchise with such history behind them. The Yankees are struggling, and for their fans, it may be time to start considering they may not be a post-season team.

2 Up: Chicago White Sox

The best team in MLB right now is the Chicago White Sox. Currently, the White Sox are 8-2 over their last ten games and riding a four-game win streak. But what’s even more impressive is that the White Sox are +106 in the run differential column. Chicago is also just a half a game behind Tampa Bay for the best record in MLB. And despite some issues of unwritten rules earlier this season, the White Sox are rolling and should easily be viewed as a serious contender.

2 Down: St. Louis Cardinals

Now not even team is experiencing sunshine and rainbows; one such team struggling is the St. Louis Cardinals. Over their last ten games, the Cardinals are 1-9 and have fallen under .500 and down to fourth in the division. St. Louis is a strong team capable of playing much better. And turning it around quickly will be mandatory if the Cardinals want to maintain their postseason hopes.

3 Up: Milwaukee Brewers

The hottest team in all of MLB is the Milwaukee Brewers. Over their last ten games, the Brew Crew is 9-1. With this latest run that includes four straight wins, the Brewers have tied the Cubs for the NL Central division lead. Milwaukee is 11 games over .500 with a 38-27 record. The Brewers will look to continue their winning ways against fellow division rival Cincinnati Reds tonight.

3 Down: Arizona Diamondbacks

Arguably, the worst team in MLB right now is the Arizona Diamondbacks. Over their last ten games, the DBacks are 0-10 with a negative run differential of -80. For Arizona, this season was always going to be a long shot as the Dodgers and Padres were strong. But as the season has unfolded, the Diamondbacks are playing even worse than their initial indicators indicated.

B.O.L.O (Be On Look Out): Philadelphia Phillies

Over the course of the last ten games, the Philadelphia Phillies are playing .700 baseball. And after a strong outing against the sputtering Yankees, the Phillies are poised to challenge the top of the NL East. And even though Philadelphia has some questions about their durability, there’s no denying the talent is there primed and ready.
