MLB State of 2021 MLB Teams

The State of the Chicago White Sox

We continue looking at the 30 MLB teams as they head into the 2021 season. And on this piece, we examine The State of the Chicago White Sox.

Liam Hendriks Signing

The Chicago White Sox made a huge splash this offseason when they signed the best reliever in the game today, Liam Hendriks. Hendriks is one of the few players this offseason that received a multi-year deal. The most significant reason for the signing of Hendriks by the White Sox is because they needed a legitimate closer.

Resigning Carlos Rodon

Resigning Carlos Rodon adds a level of depth to the White Sox rotation. For his career, Rodon has an ERA of 4.14, and with the offense that the ChiSox possesses, Rodon could be a huge signing.

Adam Eaton Signing

The Adam Eaton signing will be one of the most underrated moves of the offseason. Eaton is a great defender in right field. And while the numbers in center and left field aren’t quite the same, Eaton can be valuable to Chicago.

Acquire Lance Lynn

The ChiSox began their major offseason by acquiring Lance Lynn via trade. Over the past few seasons, Lance a Lynn has turned himself into one of Major League Baseball’s better pitchers. And adding Lynn to this starting staff makes it quite dangerous.

State of the Rotation

The starting rotation for the Chicago White Sox will be its strongest attribute in 2021. (And that’s narrowly beating the offense.) The White Sox, like many teams, will likely employ a 6-man rotation. Chicago will have the aforementioned Carlos Rodon and Lance Lynn join Dallas Keuchel, Lucas Giolito, Michael Kopech, and Reynaldo Lopez in the rotation. This will be a strong rotation that will likely dominate the American League Central. And make a strong postseason run as well.

State of the Bullpen

Now the bullpen for the Chicago is where this team is weakest and has the biggest questions. Outside of Liam Hendriks, the Chicago bullpen has no nationally recognizable names. However, they have a few quality arms in the pen.

State of the Offense

The offense for the Chicago White Sox will be among the top-tier for teams in the American League. There are a ton of great offensive forces on this team. From Jose Abreu to Tim Anderson to Yasmani Grandal to Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez this offense is loaded.

State of the Franchise

The Chicago White Sox will be competing with the Minnesota Twins for the American League Central crown. Chicago’s pitching staff and their offense will be among the best in the AL. And if the roster performs to its capability the White Sox should claim the AL Central crown.
