The New York Yankees continued their season with another game against the rival Tampa Bay Rays. So we continue our recap with another three takeaways from the contest.
Takeaway #1: Tensions Rising
Let’s begin with the end; the Yankees and Rays do not like one another. That was made very apparent when Aroldis Chapman fastball sailed above the head of Mike Brosseau. Following the final out, tensions were at an extremely high, and both benches emptied. Thankfully cooler heads prevailed, but things will be on edge for the final game of the series. The Yankees will need to continue their momentum against Tampa Bay if they want to climb back atop the American League East. And ultimately for the Yankees regain control over the American League in general.
Takeaway #2: DJ’s Big Night
DJ LeMahieu has been the unsung hero of the New York Yankees. And for the first time since returning from the IL, DJ would deliver a big home run for the Bronx Bombers. And then later on in the night, LeMahieu would follow up with another home run. The Yankees would need both runs (and a few more) to defeat the rival Rays. And for DJ LeMahieu, it was a relief to get back into the power stroke. DJ has been hitting all season and finds himself enjoying a .402 batting average.
Takeaway #3: Losing Streak Against Rays Snapped
The New York Yankees have faced an unprecedented challenge in facing the Tampa Bay Rays. New York snapped a six-game losing streak to Tampa Bay. The Yankees were expected to be a dominant force in MLB this season. New York would face a big-time stumble and have a seven-game losing streak. A streak that the Yankees snapped against the Mets last weekend. And now, with snapping the losing streak to the Rays, the Yanks can get back to their winning ways.
