Usually, the MLB season is spoken about as a grind, like a marathon. But the 2020 season is going to be a strange one for the Reds and every team. This season will be a full out 60-game sprint to the finish line for a championship opportunity. So it’s with that in mind that we present the three key series for the Cincinnati Reds in 2020.
Key Series #1: 7 of 10 at Home against Cubs
The Cincinnati Reds will have a team that is capable of surprising people in the National League Central. Cincinnati will take on arguably the toughest team in the division the Chicago Cubs while having the advantage. The Reds will host the Cubs for seven of their ten encounters in 2020. Playing at home gives the Reds a slight edge. However, the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark will play host to some rather extraordinary offensive contests.
Key Series #2: 7 of 10 at Home against Pirates
As previously stated, the Reds will be a better team than people give credit. And with that, the Reds will look to make use of the unbalanced home and home schedule against the Pirates to advance themselves. With eight teams making the National League playoffs, Cincinnati will look to use their games against the lowly Pirates to gain some easier victories.
Key Series #3: 7 of 10 on Road against Brewers
However, the path to the World Series for the Cincinnati Reds will not be easy. The Reds will face off against the Milwaukee Brewers for ten games, seven of which will come on the road for the Red Stockings. Road matchups for a team like the Reds will be a challenge, because of the tremendous offensive environment of Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. Now that being said, playing games in Miller Park will bring out another stupendous offensive park. However, the road will always bring about different circumstances for each team.
