Usually, the MLB season is spoken about as a grind, like a marathon. But the 2020 season is going to be a strange one for the Brewers and every team. This season will be a full out 60-game sprint to the finish line for a championship opportunity. So it’s with that in mind that we present the three key series for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2020.
Key Series #1: 6 of 10 on Road against Cubs
The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be a fun team to watch in 2020. They possess one of the most talented players in all of MLB in Christian Yelich. And they will need all of that talent to overcome the odds as the Brewers will be on the road against the Chicago Cubs for six of ten games in 2020. Milwaukee will need to come away with more than half of these games to aid their quest for the National League Central division crown.
Key Series #2: 6 of 10 at Home against Cardinals
However, in the Brewers, favor is the fact that they will play six of ten games at home against the St Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals will be a difficult team to defeat but not impossible. Milwaukee will have the advantage because of the unbalanced home schedule to be able to use their ballpark to their advantage. Playing the field at home allows players to play angles and cut corners that their opponents don’t anticipate. The Brewers don’t necessarily need the advantage to win, but every edge helps.
Key Series #3: 7 of 10 at Home against Reds
Finally, much like against the Cardinals, the Brewers will have the home and home edge against the Cincinnati Reds. The Cincinnati Reds will be a more competitive team than they were in 2019. So give the Brewers more home games provides the Brew with Crew the opportunity to steal a few more victories. And with the expanded playoffs, every victory is massively important.
