Usually, the MLB season is spoken about as a grind, like a marathon. But the 2020 season is going to be a strange one for the Dodgers and every team. This season will be a full out 60-game sprint to the finish line for a championship opportunity. So it’s with that in mind that we present the three key series for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020.
Key Series #1: 7 of 10 at Home against Giants
The Los Angeles Dodgers are without question one of the heavy favorites to win the 2020 World Series. And with finishing with a record of 106-56 in 2019, the Dodgers are going to face many teams below them. But the Blue Crew will face off against one of the worst teams in the San Francisco Giants ten times. And seven of those ten matchups will take place from Dodgers Stadium. LA will have a distinct advantage by being the better team but add in playing at home, and it’s a runaway series for the Dodgers.
Key Series #2: 7 of 10 on Road against Diamondbacks
With the landslide home schedule against the Giants, the Dodgers will find themselves on the opposing end against the Diamondbacks. Seven of the ten games that LA will play against the Arizona Diamondbacks will take place at Chase Field. Now, let’s be clear the DBacks are likely going to be the most challenging to the Dodgers for the NL West. But if we are maintaining an honest assessment, that challenge will likely not push the Dodgers off the thrown in the NL West. But playing the majority of this series on the road will likely give the DBacks a bit of a boost against LA.
Key Series #3: Final Series against Angels
Closing out the 60-game season will see the Dodgers take on the Millville Meteor, Mike Trout, and his newly redone team. A battle for “LA” (or Anaheim…maybe) will be the culmination of the season for the Dodgers. And a good tuneup for a potential postseason run to a 2020 World Series appearance.
