Predicting NL West Team MVP for 2020

Every season in Major League Baseball, there seem to be new stars that emerge from each team, and every season has a different team MVP. (Unless it’s the Angels, then it’s ALWAYS Mike Trout.) So with that in mind, we present you with the NL West team’s MVP for the shortened 2020 season. Check out our previous prediction list of AL West Team MVPs.

Los Angeles Dodgers: Cody Bellinger

Much like his cross league counterpart, Mike Trout, Cody Bellinger is a lock every season team MVP for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bellinger is already a superstar and capable of putting up incredible numbers. Cody’s defensive versatility and offensive prowess give the Dodgers a reliable stud in the middle of the lineup. And someone to place in the premium positions to succeed. The Dodgers advancing in this shortened season will rest with an ensemble cast around Cody Bellinger.

Arizona Diamondbacks: Ketel Marte

The Arizona Diamondbacks are an interesting club for 2020. Arizona has some talented yet underrated players that should they start got can carry them to a postseason birth. One such player is Ketel Marte. The DBacks outfielder has been a breakout star over the past few seasons. And 2020 is likely to be adding to that career high point. Look for a strong campaign from Marte and a solid (potentially standout) season from the Diamondbacks.

Colorado Rockies: Nolan Arenado

For certain teams, some players are iconic. Nolan Arenado for the Colorado Rockies is that player, although they’ve had some issues about the direction of the franchise. However, when it comes to on-field play, Nolan is a regular NL MVP candidate, let alone the Rockies perennial MVP.

San Diego Padres: Fernando Tatis Jr

Choosing a team MVP for the San Diego Padres is a conflicting choice. On the one hand, you have the $300 Million man, Manny Machado. Then there’s the man that was supposed to be the franchise star for years to come in Wil Myers. And also a prime contributor for the 2014 World Champion KC Royals, Eric Hosmer. But none of those men make the impact that the former top prospect, Fernando Tatis Jr, makes for the franchise. San Diego can be viewed as a sleeper pick for an NL Wildcard in the 2020 shortened season. And that possibility will rest firmly on the improvement of one, Fernando Tatis Jr.

San Francisco Giants: Buster Posey

How Buster Posey goes, so go the San Francisco Giants. The former NL MVP is the iconic face of the San Francisco chapter of the Giants franchise. Buster Posey has been one of the very best players in MLB for quite some time. However, injuries have started to pile up on the future Hall of Fame backstop. That being said, the shortened season will likely help keep Posey on the field and name him, SF Giants team MVP.
