If you have watched any NXT Takeover event you know that they always deliver. The mixture of spectacle and substance are a unique blend. And so we give two reasons that NXT Takeover: New York will outshine WrestleMania 35.
Quantity, Or Lack Thereof
The simple answer is the fact that the NXT show tonight will likely not exceed three hours in time. While WrestleMania is reportedly going to be seven and a half hours long. NXT on a weekly basis delivers a worthwhile hour of pro-wrestling content. And when we have the pleasure to witness a Takeover Network Special we are graced with double the brilliance. The beauty is in simplicity.
Quality
Another critical difference is the product we receive as members of the NXT Universe. Some may say that NXT is geared more towards a niché audience, a more wrestling-centric, or “smarkie” crowd. But since the inception of the Takeovers specials, we have been treated to some of the most incredible events under the WWE banner ever. Classic matches like Johnny Gargano versus Andrade Cien Almas. Bouts like Velveteen Dream versus Tommaso Ciampa. Worthwhile feuds that play on our emotions like Tommaso Ciampa versus Johnny Gargano. The NXT Takeover events give fans of pro-wrestling something to sink their teeth into during major WWE event weekends.
Even your more casual WWE Universe members are blown away by matches on the NXT Takeover specials. And we as die-hard members of the NXT Universe are well aware of just how unique of an entity NXT is by comparison. NXT Takeover New York is going to be phenomenal, there’s no doubt in my mind. We have three matches that could steal the spotlight on this, the biggest pro-wrestling weekend of the year. Pete Dunne versus Walter for the NXT UK Championship, Matt Riddle versus Velveteen Dream for the NXT North American Championship, and the 2 of 3 falls match between Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole (Bay Bay) will undoubtedly be the talk of the weekend. And it all happens tonight.
