Figuring Out the Wrestlemania Card

In a few short weeks Wrestlemania will be upon us and the match card is starting to take shape. This will be a list of what we know or can safely assume is the match card for New Orleans.

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP: AJ STYLES VS SHINSUKE NAKAMURA

This match I am very much looking forward to. This match I truly believe will absolutely steal the show. These two men have main evented and headlined shows all around the world and now they will bring this timeless classic to the Grandest Stage of them all.

WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP: BROCK LESNAR VS ROMAN REIGNS

This contest will be a hard hitting bout for sure and it will be booked as if it’s “personal”. This match isn’t one that I am expecting much from, well except I expect there to be a lot of German Suplexes and Superman Punches.

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP: THE MIZ VS FINN BALOR VS SETH ROLLINS

This contest has the potential to steal the show with three of WWE’s top Superstars in the match. The Miz has turned himself into a truly reliable and dependable superstar in WWE and that isn’t something I would have ever thought to say. Balor and Rollins are two of WWE’s most talented and “OVER” superstars and this should be a very interesting fast paced contest.

WWE RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP: ALEXA BLISS VS NIA JAX

The real life best friends turned on screen rivals will have a chance to put on a special match. The chemistry between these two ladies is undeniable and that should translate to a fun match.

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP: CHARLOTTE FLAIR VS ASUKA

This match should be a very good match yet extremely predictable as “The Undefeated Streak” for Asuka has overshadowed a lot of the WWE’s programming featuring the best female roster the WWE has ever had. As long as the streak is intact the matches won’t hold the same hype as they once did.

MIXED TAG GRUDGE MATCH: HHH & STEPHANIE MCMAHON VS KURT ANGLE & RONDA ROUSEY

This match has been several years in the making and the WWE has backed themselves into a corner. This match is going to be a rough one to watch as it seems that Kurt Angle isn’t truly 100% healthy, Kurt and HHH will have to be called upon to carry a majority of the match as Ronda is still very much green in the wrestling business.
(On a side note shoutout to my friend Chris Eaton for pointing this out to me and now it’s the only thing I notice. So I figure I would share it with you as well. Kurt Angle can NOT straighten his legs out. Angle even when standing “straight up” is bent at the knees. Keep an eye out on Monday Night RAW for the fact that Kurt can’t stand up straight.)

WWE RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: THE BAR VS BRAUN STROWMAN & ELIAS

While Braun just won the number one contender ship match this past Monday night & Elias hasn’t been named his partner the writing is on the wall

WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP: RANDY ORTON VS BOBBY ROODE VS JINDER MAHAL

Another match that hasn’t been announced just yet but yet again it is obvious where it’s going.

LEGEND VS LEGEND: THE UNDERTAKER VS JOHN CENA

Two of the biggest names in WWE history are remarkably facing off at Wrestlemania for the first time. If I’m being honest I wish this match would have happen 5-10 years ago but I am hopeful that these two legends can put together a memorable (hopefully quick) matchup.

FABULOUS MOOLAH MEMORIAL BATTLE ROYAL WRESTLEMANIA WOMEN’S BATTLE ROYAL

This is going to be the first ever Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal (OOPS), well this match is now being called the Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal due to the backlash received over the jaded and controversial history that the Fabulous Moolah is connected to. However the match itself will be something to keep an eye on to seen if it can actually be used to build up the woman who wins this contest as the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal hasn’t done much for the men who have won the contest in the past.

BATTLE OF THE BEST FRIENDS PART 1: BAYLEY VS SASHA BANKS

This match has me very intrigued because these two lovely ladies have a storied history of delivering on the big stage. The two NXT Takeover events in Brooklyn are some of my favorite matches ever, so giving these two ladies a chance on the “Grandest Stage of the All” would make for another epic encounter. Now the wrinkle in this match seems as if the WWE will be making Bayley the heel instead of Sasha Banks. I think that would be an interesting twist.

BATTLE OF THE BEST FRIENDS PART 2: SAMI ZAYN VS KEVIN OWENS

This match was announced on Smackdown Live by Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon. These two always put on a great match.

As of now these are the most obvious contest for this years Wrestlemania. Some matches will draw a lot of attention and hype while others may leave something to be desired. But it is Wrestlemania and everyone wants to steal the show so look for big things out of everyone on the card.
